CADSA is guided by a Board of Directors and Staff that are committed to fulfilling the purpose and mission of the organization.

Board of Directors

Each board member has a personal connection to the Down syndrome community and is dedicated to supporting people with Down syndrome and their families. The board is elected by members based on personal experience, passion, and expertise.

LIZETTE VASQUEZ

President

My name is Lizette Vasquez and I have an 11-year-old son, Lucas, who was born with Down syndrome. While I am originally from Lansing, I lived in both Texas and Illinois before returning to Michigan. I currently live in Mason with my family.

I have been a part of CADSA since 2015 and became more involved when I joined the Step Up Down Syndrome committee in 2016. Since becoming a parent of a child with Down syndrome I have been able to speak with many new and soon to be parents welcoming a child with Trisomy 21. This is one of my favorite things to do! I have a personal passion for advocacy and increasing job opportunities for those of all abilities.

I currently work in higher education and have an M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. When not working I enjoy traveling with my family, bike riding and enjoying the simple things in life.

TAMARA MCKENZIE

Vice President

Tamara is new to our CADSA family joining in 2023. She’s married to her husband Jeff, a mother of 3 and a dog mom to two dogs.

Her youngest was born in 2021 and diagnosed with Down syndrome during pregnancy. Tamara and her family’s main goal is to learn as much as possible and spread awareness to their community. Learning and growing together is the key!

She and her family are so excited and grateful to be a part of such an amazing community and organization. And looking forward to learning and growing along with all of you!

JULIE DAY

Treasurer

Julie and her husband, Joel, have been married for 27 years. They have 23 year old twins, Rachel and Caleb. Caleb was born with Down Syndrome. Their family began with CADSA soon after the group began. At that time, she was very grateful for the friendships she made and the many social gatherings that were available for both of her young children. It was a wonderful time to get to know other families.

Twenty (or so) years later, Julie is amazed with the programs CADSA offers for all age groups. She is in awe of Kellee Hansen and the other members of the board with their enthusiasm and their ideas!

Julie and her husband are retired.

JANICE FRANKOVICH

Member at Large

Janice has been a member of CADSA since it began. As the parent of a 26-year-old, she has navigated many medical, educational and social challenges associated with Down Syndrome. These experiences have made her believe strongly in the benefits of a support community.

Through its membership, CADSA has been a sounding board, educational source and cheering section over the years. She would like to make sure the same support is available to others that may want it. She is interested in exploring opportunities for adults with disabilities to live fulfilling lives and defining what that may look like for her son.

COMING SOON

JODI STREETER

Member at Large

I have been married to my husband Kasey for 9 years. We have two boys, Thorin who is six and Kellen who is four. We found out Kellen had Down Syndrome when I was 20 weeks pregnant and began our journey with CADSA shortly after. We did our first SUDS walk in 2018, 10 days after Kellen was born. I joined the board shortly after that.

I’ve really enjoyed making connections with other families that love someone with Down Syndrome. As a family, we love to go for walks and spending time together. Professionally, I work for Delta Dental.
