World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is March 21 – the 21st day of the 3rd month – selected to signify the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
The Capital Area Step Up for Down Syndrome walk happens annually in the fall. It is one of 300 events held annually across the country focused on increasing funding and awareness for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
