Lizette Vasquez - General Board Member, Playtime Pals Coordinator

My name is Lizette Vasquez and I have a 5-year-old son, Lucas, who was born with Down syndrome. While I am originally from Lansing, I have lived outside of Michigan until the fall of 2015 and currently reside in Eaton Rapids with my son and husband. At this time I am interested in becoming more involved with the local Down syndrome community as I have been heavily involved in such organizations in the past and want to be a part of Down syndrome programming, education, and awareness in my community. I was fortunate enough to become a member of CADSA shortly after moving to the area, attend CADSA sponsored events and join as a committee member for the 2016 SUDS event. In addition, my past experience includes working with parents who have received a prenatal diagnosis such as we had, welcoming new parents to support groups as well as fundraising efforts to raise money for various Down syndrome and special needs organizations. In addition, I have a personal passion for advocacy and increasing job opportunities for those of all abilities. I currently on the MSU Health Team Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). I currently work in higher education and have an M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. When not working I enjoy traveling with my family, bike riding and enjoying the simple things in life. Coordinator for Playtime Pals
